Single stroke internal combustion engine with piston valve timing and turbine connected on the output side, for various solid explosives

Compared to the prior art, that is to the combustion or firing of surplus ammunition stocks in combustion chambers, this technology for driving an engine for the generation of electricity at times of peak consumption offers the advantage that the energy contained in the grenades and cartridges is virtually fully utilised. The object is to optimise the efficiency of the technology described in the Imperial Patent Specification No. 305967 by reducing the working principle to one stroke. Following the power stroke the exhaust gas is admitted into the crankcase by way of the piston valve. In the crankcase, water from the cooling circuit is injected in order to enrich the exhaust gas with water vapour and thus also to increase the efficiency of the turbine connected on the output side. The engine should be built in at least a two-cylinder version. This technology is outstandingly suited to driving generators for the generation of electricity at peak consumption times. Also because of the maintenance and cleaning intervals continually necessary.
