Pull-action clutch operator with a connecting ring and a precentred connecting member and an associated installation method

The invention proposes a method for installing a connecting ring on a connecting region of the rotating ring of the rolling-contact bearing in a pull-action clutch operator. The method consists in providing a snap ring with inner sections and outer sections with different curvatures which are distributed alternately around the circumference and are enclosed between an incircle and a circumcircle which are concentric with one another; in placing the snap ring in a preassembly groove in the connecting region, the inner sections being centred on the base of the preassembly groove and the outer sections projecting outwards in the radial direction from the connecting region; in displacing the connecting region axially in the connecting ring, during which process a shoulder forces the outer sections of the snap ring to descend radially into the preassembly groove; and in displacing the connecting region in the opposite direction, forcing the snap ring to expand along a conical section until it comes to rest in a retention groove, assuming as it does so an essentially annular shape, the diameter of the groove base of the retention groove being greater than the diameter of the base of the preassembly groove.
