The holder of the headlight has a U-shaped clip whose web which connects the two legs can be secured to the body of the vehicle. A rigid projection, connected to the headlight, of the holder is arranged between the legs of a U-shaped clip and has a through-opening which extends transversely with respect to the optical axis. Two elastic sleeves between which a shoulder is arranged are inserted into the through-opening, which shoulder is formed onto the inside of the through-opening. A sleeve-shaped spacing element which is held in a clamping fashion between the legs of a U-shaped clip of the holder passes through the two elastic sleeves. The legs are pressed against the spacing sleeve by a threaded bolt which is borne by them and passes through the through-opening of the projection. In this arrangement, the elastic sleeves are compressed by a specific amount of travel in the direction of the longitudinal axis which is the pivot axis of the headlight.
