A composite material having a high refractive index, a method for producing same and optically active materials such as antireflection materials and reflective materials made from said composite material, are disclosed. Said composite material having a high refractive index is characterised in that it includes metal oxide or SiO2 colloids (1) coated with a polyvinyl polymer (3) soluble in an alcohol solvent containing water.
