PURPOSE:To provide the brick excellent in both oxidation resistance and hot strength, useful as a liner for hot iron or hot steel vessels. CONSTITUTION:The brick is characterized by having incorporated (A) 100 pts.wt. of a formulation composed of 3-40wt.% of carbon and the rest of a magnesia stock with (B) 0.1-10wt.% of Mg2Si. The component B is divided into Mg component and Si component, the former being effective for imparting the final product with oxidation resistance, while the latter with oxidation resistance, texture densification and hot strength. As a result, decarbonized layers near the operating surface of the brick are seldom be developed and both the hot strength and durability of the brick can be improved. |
