PURPOSE:To clearly and sharply cut even thick materials. CONSTITUTION:The molten material 5 is oxidized with gaseous oxygen 6 to be cut by irradiating the laser beam 2 from a laser beam head 4 toward a part to be cut of the material 5, and ejecting gaseous oxygen 6 to be fed to the laser beam head 4 through a gaseous oxygen feeding passage 12 toward the part 8 to be cut. When gaseous oxygen 6 is excessively fed to the part 8 to be cut and the explosive oxidation reaction occurs, the excessive feeding of gaseous oxygen 6 can be prevented by feeding the oxidation suppressing gas 14 to the laser beam head 4 through an oxidation suppressing gas feeding passage 15, mixing it with gaseous oxygen 6 and ejecting the mixture to the part 8 to be cut.
