PROCESS FOR PRODUCING CASTINGS USING A DIE-CASTING MACHINE.

The proposal is for a process for producing castings by means of a diecasting machine (1) in which molten metal (6) is introduced into a filling chamber (9) from a reservoir (7) by means of adjustable pressure differences between the two and, after a filling and metering stage, a diecasting ram (14) presses the molten metal (6) into a hollow mould (5). In order to improve the quality of the casting over prior art processes, the process of the invention is characterized by the following steps: reduction of the pressure difference on completion of the filling and metering stage to one adequate to keep the head of molten metal in the filling chamber (9); maintenance of this reduced pressure difference ( DELTA p) for a predeterminable period of movement of the die-casting ram to fill the filling chamber completely; and subsequent increase in the pressure difference before the start of the mould filling stage.
