摘要 It is known to determine the position of the cursor by panning an infrared remote control up and down or to the left and right in a two-dimensional way over the screen of a TV set. The disadvantage in doing this is that jitter faults which would end up in the passband of a linear low-pass filter occur as a result of an excessively low signal-to-noise ratio. The object is to provide a method which suppresses these jitter faults in a simple manner. For this purpose, the space occupied by the visible display marker (actual position) is detected and delimited by a frame (software window). The centre point of the space occupied by the display marker is the desired position. Displacing the occupied space produces a displacement of the frame which is permanently linked to the visible display marker. In this way, the jitter faults are substantially reduced and the display marker follows the movement of the remote control. Preferably for television receivers and monitors. <IMAGE>
