A friction clutch has a pressure plate (1) rotatable with a clutch housing, but movable axially in relation to it, and having a friction face (3) for engagement with a clutch plate, the pressure plate (1) being mounted on the housing by mounting members such as tangential leaf springs (2), attached by a rivet (5) in a blind bore (12) in the side of the pressure plate (1) remote from the friction face (3). The blind bore (12) is of conical shape, with its greater diameter at the closed base of the bore (12). On assembly of the rivet (5) using a tool (16) a shank portion (7) engaging in the bore (12) is radially plastically deformed into the base of the bore (12) to ensure secure location of the rivet (5).
