A traffic guard rail composed of elongated coupled-together sections along highways is constructed, on the traffic side, as a sliding wall and, on the side remote from the traffic, as an obstruction barrier for small animals, amphibians and the like. On the side remote from the traffic, the rail sections (1) exhibit an upper overhang (2). In a further development of the invention, the rail sections (1) may possess, on the side remote from the traffic, a trough-shaped indentation (3) with foot (4) at the underside, the ousides of the overhang (2) and foot (4) being flush and lying in a common vertical plane. Rail sections (1) constructed in this way according to the invention can be placed in front of arrangements comprising metal beam barriers (6) on posts/uprights (7) and act additionally as a protective device, especially for riders of two-wheeled vehicles. <IMAGE> |
