ELECTRODE HOLDER

PURPOSE: To provide an electrode holder for use in a testing device which rapidly and effectively determines the concentrations of various ions in a liquid, e.g. blood. CONSTITUTION: This electrode holder consists of a slender electrode body 17 having a power supply connected to an internal electrode 108 lying inside a first chamber 106; the first chamber is open to a second chamber 108 lying beneath an elongated and chemically sensitive ion-test thin film 103; the second chamber is filled with a gelled conductive material, and the first chamber is filled with a conductive liquid and thereby the internal electrode and the test thin film have electrical continuity between them; the second chamber is defined by the portion of a second electrode main body which is made to match the portion of a first main body in sealing engagement so that the second chamber precisely brings the gel into contact with the liquid.
