PURPOSE: To provide a driving device of an indoor high pressure discharge lamp to be turned on/off at any time by instantaneously lighting a high pressure discharge lamp by impressing a discharge initiation voltage of tens of thousands volts. CONSTITUTION: An AC power supply is applied to a main power supply part 10 and an auxiliary power supply part 20 which undergo full-wave rectification and which are filtered respectively. The output of the main power supply part 10 is supplied to an inverter part 40, and the output of the auxiliary power supply part 20 is supplied to a gate drive part 30. The drive part 30 generates pulse signals having a frequency enabling the stable operation of a high pressure discharge lamp 60, and also generates pulse signals reversed in phase. Then, the pulse signals are supplied to the inverter part 40. The inverter part 40 transmits positive and negative pulses having a maximum value of hundreds of volts to a lighting circuit part 50. As a result, the circuit part 50 impresses a discharge initiation voltage of tens of thousands volts on the high pressure discharge lamp 60, which radiates high intensity light circumferentially. |
