PURPOSE:To provide a cold cathode device, which can reduce applied voltage for discharging electric field electrons, and which can reduce the number of wirings remarkably even when a large number of elements are formed. CONSTITUTION:Strong electric field is given between an emitter electrode 2 and a gate electrode 4 by a cold cathode device to pick up an electric field discharge electron. An infrared emission element (light radiation part) 7 for radiating light energy lower than the work function of a material, is provided on the corn part 3 of the emitter electrode 2. |
