PURPOSE:To provide an on-line character segmentiting device which can effectively segment the characters with small processing value and without giving any burden to a writer. CONSTITUTION:A boundary line calculating means 3 calculates a boundary line to segment the characters based on the coordinate data given from a coordinate input device 1. A character segmenting means 2 segments the characters when the key point, e.g. the stroke starting point of the coordinate data exceeds the boundary line. The request is gentle for a writer in regard of the writing way and the burden of the writer is reduced because it is decided whether the writer proceeded to the next character or not by means of a varying boundary line. The calculation of the boundary line and the segmentation of characters can be attained by the simple processings. The time information is not used and a boundary line varying adaptively is used for segmentation of characters so that the characters are properly segmented. It is desirable to show the boundary line on a display device 5 via a boundary line display control means 4. As a result, the writer can surely get beyond the boundary line when he proceeds to the next character. |
