PURPOSE:To provide a device for detecting dents, distortion, etc., which can surely and easily detect dents, distortion, etc. CONSTITUTION:A device for detecting dents, distortion, etc., is provided with three fluorescent lamps 4, 4, and 4 arranged in a line so that their end sections overlap each other, lighting means 3 which projects the image 4' of the lamps 4 upon the coated surface 2a of a plate 2, conveyor 1 which scans the image 4' of the lamps 4 on the coated surface 2a of the plate 2, and image pickup camera which takes the image 4' of the lamps 4. The device is also provided with a discriminating section 7 which discriminates the position, size, etc., of a dent, distortion, etc., produced on the coated surface 2a of the plate 2 based on the scanning position of the image 4' and image signals from the camera. |
