PURPOSE:To provide the character processor and its method which can compare even a KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) string which is long in character string length in a short time. CONSTITUTION:Respective KATAKANA strings extracted from document data are preliminarily classified into several groups. In each group, every two KATAKANA strings are selected. When two selected KATAKANA strings both contain more than a specific number of characters (step S101), common parts are deleted from the two KATAKANA character strings (step S104) and a deforming process is performed (step S104) only for noncommon parts. Then the deformation results are compared with each other and it is judged whether or not there is matching deformed symbol strings (step S105). When the matching deformed symbol strings are found, the original KATAKANA strings are mutually compares (step S107) and when they are different, it is judged that fluctuations of notation are generated. |
