<p>PURPOSE: To remove a blocking artifact on a block boundary by decoding and reproducing compressed data in each frame, comparing the reproduced frame data with the original frame data and generating a post processing variable. CONSTITUTION: A blocking artifact measuring part 200 in an encoding device changes a post processing variable a in accordance with the degree of a measured blocking artifact and outputs the changed variable. When the post processing variableαoutputted from the measuring part 200 is '0', a blocking artifact does not exist on a block boundary part in a corresponding frame, i.e., the frame of video data from an inverse transformer 13, so that an adaptive low pass filter 300 in a decoding device passes all input video data. When the variableαis '1', the degree of the blocking artifact is violent on the block boundary part, so that the filter 300 is turned to an LPF and filters the block boundary part of input video data to remove existing blocking artifact components.</p> |
