<p>PURPOSE:To confirm a fault in compressed data when a picture signal is compressed as number of synchronization codes included in compressed data when the compressed data are outputted to an external device without expansion of the compressed data. CONSTITUTION:The picture signal compressor compressing a band of picture data inputted from an external device and providing an output to an external device is provided with a compression circuit 3 adding a synchronization code at a head of one line and for each optional power supply dot number when a picture signal is compressed, a synchronization code detection circuit 5 detecting the synchronization code as soon as compressed data are outputted to an external device, a counter 6 counting number of detected synchronization codes, and a control section 2 collating the count of the synchronization code with number of synchronization codes calculated from the data quantity of the original picture signal, then whether or not a fault is in existence in the compressed data is discriminated based on the number of synchronization codes detected simultaneously during output of the compression data to the external device and when the output of the compression data is finished, a data fault is informed to the external device.</p> |
