PRODUCTION OF ULTRA-THIN POLYMER FILM BY EPITAXIAL GROWTH OF POLYMER COMPOUND

PURPOSE:To produce a ultra-thin polymer film on a crystalline substrate by subjecting a polymer compound obtained by stepwise solution polymerization to the epitaxial growth on the crystalline substrate. CONSTITUTION:The stepwise solution polymerization is effected near the crystal face of the single crystal substrate to form a film which is subjected to the epitaxial growth on the crystalline surface of the base as well as an amorphous polymer compound which is physically adsorbed on the base. The single crystal base is washed with a good solvent for the polymer to remove only the amorphous polymer compound whereby an ultra-thin film of a polymer compound is obtained by the epitaxial growth of the polymer compound formed by the stepwise solution polymerization.
