<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the camera easily handled and not made large in size by providing with a specific photographing optical system and an information read means to the camera. CONSTITUTION:A bar code 11 or other information pattern is fetched via an image pickup lens 2, a pattern image is read by a CCD being an image pickup element, in which the optical signal is converted into an electric signal. Only a luminance signal of the electric signal is extracted by a Y process circuit and an analog signal is sampled by an A/D converter at a prescribed time interval and converted into a digital signal. The output is a serial bit string with respect to a time axis and received by a CPU being an information read means as bar code input data. Based on the received signal, the pattern is recognized and the setting of the prescribed image pickup mode or the variable for image pickup is set automatically by using a setting means in the inside of the CPU. Thus, a bar code or pattern is read without using a conventional exclusive bar code reader.</p> |
