PURPOSE:To detect a hole section formed in a sample by discriminating whether or not the data corresponding to the hole section exist in discriminated picture data which can be two-dimensionally divided into picture elements based on the gradation of the picture elements. CONSTITUTION:When the memory of a picture forming circuit 4 is switched to a readout state after a CCD sensor 2 completes image pickup, a dot pattern segmenting circuit 6 segments discriminated picture data into dot patterns S1-S4 at an equal pitch toward the periphery from the picture element at the center of the picture data and outputs the data of the patterns S1-S4 to address generating circuits 7-10. The circuits 7-10 arrange the gradations '0' and '1' of the patterns S1-S4 in order from one end to the other end of each pattern S1-S4 and output the address signals of the gradations to memories 11-14. The memories 11-14 output the data '0' or '1' of the addresses designated by signals from the circuit 7-10 to a discriminating circuit 15. |
