PURPOSE:To eliminated the transfer of unnecessary video information. CONSTITUTION:A video data base consisting of one video files or more including video information and sound information is stored in a large capacity storage device 12 for a file server 10. A client 14 can reproduce and output a required video file stored in the video data base. When a video file to be reproduced is specified, the server 10 transfers only the sound information of the video file to be reproduced to the client 14 at first and the client 14 outputs its sound. A user for the client 14 discriminates the necessity/unnecessity of video information based on the reproduced sound. When the video information is required, the server 10 transfers video data (or the video file) to the client 14, which synchronously reproduces the video and voice. |
