PURPOSE:To allow automatic sampling by providing a light projecting/receiving section obtaining different electric signals depending on the presence/absence of liquid thereby detecting the liquid level without employing any electrode rod. CONSTITUTION:When the level 65 of butter 32 is higher than the light projecting/receiving section 61a, a measuring light projected from the section 61a transmits the case to leak into the butter and thereby the measuring light is not received. A control section 50 drives a constant delivery pump 4-7 based on a signal from the section 61a to suck a fixed quantity of buffer 32 through a sampling nozzle 46 and deliver the buffer into a reaction vessel 49. When the liquid level 65 drops below the section 61a, the measuring light does not leak to the air but reflects on the outer wall of the case and a binarized signal is delivered to the control section 50 in order to stop the pump 47. Furthermore, a dilution pump 43 is driven to suck ion exchanged water 34 and concentrated butter 36. When the level 65 of the buffer 32 rises to a light projecting/receiving section 61b, the measuring light leaks into the butter 32 without being detected and the dilution pump 43 is stopped. |
