发明名称 HIGHLY EFFICIENT ENCODING DEVICE
摘要 PURPOSE:To speed up highly efficient encoding without increasing the processing speed of a variable length encoding part. CONSTITUTION:A discrete cosine transformation part 1 orthogonally transforms a forecasting error signal obtained based upon a picture signal in each MXN (M and N are positive integers) blocks and outputs a transformation coefficient. When the value of the transformation coefficient is less than a threshold, a threshold processing part 2 sets up the value to '0'. A quantizing part 3 quantizes the threshold-processed transformation coefficient in accordance with a quantizing step and outputs a quantized trasformation coefficient. The quantized transformation coefficient is buffered by a buffer 4. A variable length encoding part 5 encodes the quantized transformation coefficient and outputs encoded data. The encoded data are buffered by an output buffer 6 and outputted as output encoded data at a fixed speed. A control part 7 determines the threshold and a quantization coefficient based upon the storage capacity of the buffers 4, 6.
