METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR CORRECTION OF ERROR

PURPOSE: To correct an error by a simple procedure by executing error value operation by using a counted word value as an error position value when the value of a prescribed error position polynomial is '0'. CONSTITUTION: Word data are inputted from an input terminal, 100 and a syndrome is generated from a syndrome generation part 101. An error position polynomial coefficient operation part 102 calculates coefficients A to C based on the generated syndrome and generates coefficients D, E also based on the calculated coefficients A to C. An error position polynomial operation part 103 receiving these coefficients A to E counts in each word position and generates an operation result indicating whether the value of an error polynomial a<2i> +Dα +E is '0' or not. A word position counting part 104 counts a word position valueαin each block. An error position value detection part 105 catches a word position value when a polynomial operation result signal of a fixed logic state is inputted at the '0' state of the polynomial operation result and supplies the word position value to an error value calculation part 106 and a control part 110 as an error position.
