<p>PURPOSE:To perform a hand shake correction by using the correction pattern according to a state and to eliminate the difficulty to see an image due to the centering after a panning. CONSTITUTION:A state 1 is set as an initial state in a microcomputer 26, and if the state is the state 1, a hand shake correction is performed by the correction pattern of the state 1. When a panning or a tilting is detected in the state 1, the state is transitioned to a state 2. If hand shake is less, the state is transitioned to a state 3 and a hand shake correction is performed by the correction pattern in each a state. When the termination of the panning, etc., of a camera in the state 2 is detected, the state is transited to the state 3 if an integration vector Sn is large, the state is transitioned to the state 1 if the integration vector' Sn is small and the hand shake correction is performed by the correction pattern in each state. If the panning, etc., is detected in the state 3, the state is transitioned to the state 2 and the hand shake correction is performed by the correction pattern of the state 2.
