ELECTRODELESS DISCHARGE LAMP AND LIGHTING SYSTEM USING ELECTRODELESS DISCHARGE LAMP

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrodeless discharge lamp and a lighting system using an electrodeless discharge lamp which can improve the starting property in a simple structure, and can simplify a starting circuit. CONSTITUTION:In a high-frequency lighting electrodeless discharge lamp which consists of a luminous container 11 a luminous substance is sealed; and a high- frequency exciting coil 15 surrounding the luminous container 1; a ring form conductor 20 for starting surrounding the luminous container 11 and forming a discharge gap 21 at a part in the peripheral direction is provided to the above luminous container 11. As a result, when a high-frequency electromagnetic wave is fed from the high-frequency exciting coil 15, a surrounding electromagnetic field is generated in the peripheral direction of the luminous container 11, a glow discharge is generated at the discharge gap 21 of the conductor 20 for starting by the surrounding electromagnetic field, and the glow discharge induces an arc discharge.
