PURPOSE:To detect battery abnormality in a unit having a rechargeable battery. CONSTITUTION:Detecting portions 5 and 3 respectively for main source voltage and for battery voltage are provided and a CPU 1 is provided with the function of detecting battery voltage abnormality. While power is supplied, the battery voltage detecting portion 3 checks whether or not battery voltage is abnormal, and when the battery voltage is abnormal the time over which the battery voltage remains abnormal is measured using the function of measuring battery voltage abnormal time. When the battery voltage abnormality is not overcome in a predetermined time t1, and also when battery voltage is normal, the detecting portions 5 and 3 for main source voltage and battery voltage are used to monitor the voltages of a main power source and a battery 4, and battery abnormality is detected when the main source voltage becomes normal and the battery voltage abnormal. |
