The invention relates to a waste press, especially for waste containers of the replaceable skip type, which are transported by trucks. The invention is based on a telescopic press plate 8, 9, which is connected at one of its edges to the end of the waste container 1 by means of articulated joints, and the length of which can be adjusted by means of two hydraulic cylinders 14. Tensioning arms 17 are fixed to the upper corners of the moveable telescopic part 8 of the plate, the other ends of the tensioning arms being fixed to the end of the container 1 below the articulation point of the press plate 8, 9. When the length of the press plate 8, 9 is adjusted by means of the hydraulic cylinders 14, the tensioning arms 17 turn the press plate 8, 9 towards the end of the container 1 and correspondingly out from the end to an open position.
