The conveyor has the form of sections, the framework of which consists of flanks (2) separated by spacers (3). These spacers (3) support longitudinal rails (4) serving to guide endless chains (5) on which roller spindles (carriers, holders) (10) are fastened. These rolls or rollers are distributed between and outside the chains (5). Preferably, the distribution is symmetrical on either side of the chains (5) so as to form distinct conveying lines in one and the same conveying plane. Two juxtaposed conveying lines may be utilised, one for accumulation and the other for moving loads at a speed which is higher than the speed of the drive chains, by virtue of a runner (skid) or rail (20) arranged under the rolls.
