PURPOSE: To provide a cryogenic system low in heat leak by providing a first lamina having a surface exposed to a cryogenic liquid and a second lamina arranged on its outer side, and providing a block or a layer of a coherent aerogel. CONSTITUTION: In an application to a storage container 10 for a cryogenic liquid, the storage container 10 comprises a first lamina 12 consisting of a metallic sheet, etc., and a second lamina 16 consisting of a material containing an organic foam such as styrene foam and polyurethane foam, and a protective coating 17 is provided on an outer side surface of the second lamina 16. A coherent aerogel is sealed in a closed chamber formed by the layers 12, 16 between the first and second laminas 12, 16, and a fire-proof silica aerogel is preferably used for the coherent aerogel. A gaseous environment with the pressure not greater than 250,000 micrometers of mercury, preferably, 10,000 to 250,000 micrometers of mercury is set around the coherent aerogel.
