PURPOSE:To obtain a partially stabilized zirconia sintered compact having high strength and also excellent in thermal stability. CONSTITUTION:Starting materials for zirconia contg. 1-10mol% CeO2, are preliminarily fired and subjected to hot isostatic pressing in an atmosphere having 1-20vol.% concn. of O2 to obtain the objective partially stabilized zirconia sintered compact consisting essentially of tetragonal crystals or tetragonal and cubic crystals and having 120kgf/cm2 deflective strength (three-point bending strength stipulated by JIS-1601). After this sintered compact is allowed to stand in hot water at 120 deg.C under 2atm for 100hr, the amt. of monoclinic crystals is <=10wt.%. |
