PURPOSE:To enhance a wear resistance to ensure a repeated recording and reduce the power consumption. CONSTITUTION:The recording medium comprises a film-form substrate 11, a recording/indication layer 12 formed on the substrate 11 and made of a matrix material and either a satd. carboxylic acid or its derivative, and a protective layer 15 formed on the recording/indication layer 12. The protective layer 15 is formed by dispersing a powder material in the layer. Therefore, the wear resistance of the reversible thermal recording medium is enhanced, and a repeated recording is ensured. Furthermore, since the protective layer 15 is not required to have a large thickness, the heat of a thermal recording element can be sufficiently transmitted to the recording/indication layer 12, and the power consumption can be reduced. |
