TRAVELING AREA RECOGNITION APPARATUS OF VEHICLE AND SAFETY APPARATUS WITH THE DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide a traveling area recognition apparatus of a vehicle and a safety apparatus of the vehicle equipped with it that are capable of recognizing the traveling area of the vehicle itself even when a white line on a road is not clearly detected. CONSTITUTION:A traveling area recognition apparatus of a vehicle is capable of recognizing a traveling area of the vehicle 1 by detecting white lines 21 on a driving lane 24 designated on the road. It is equipped with laser head units 11, 12 that detect a specific object 31 aligned along a side of the road. When a reference white line 21L as a reference for recognizing the traveling area can not be detected, the traveling area of the vehicle is recognized from a relative position between the specific object 31 and the vehicle 1. The vehicle equipped with the traveling area recognition apparatus and a safety system that controls a driving condition of the vehicle 1 not to deviate from the traveling area recognized by means of the raveling area recognition apparatus and alerts the driver.
