<p>Microwave filter in rectangular bimodal cavity waveguide 1 in which the bimodal cavities 3a, 3b consisting of waveguides with a rectangular cross section 2a, 2b are connected to the exterior by two access waveguides with a rectangular cross section 4a, 4b, in the same axis as the waveguides forming the cavities. The ratio between the sides (a, b) of the cross sections of the bimodal cavities 3a, 3b is close to unity, and the sides of the cross sections of the access guides 4a, 4b form angles of 45 degrees with the sides of the sections of the bimodal cavities 3a, 3b. The couplings between each cavity and the exterior and between the cavities are formed by thick irises with rectangular apertures whose sides are parallel to those of the sections of the access guides 4a, 4b. Thus the field coupling in the cavities is provided by direct polarization along the diagonals of the cross sections of the cavities, and the coupling is of the distributed type within the cavities themselves.
