The invention relates to bistramide derivatives of low, indeed nonexisting, toxicity of formula <IMAGE> in which - R1, X, Y and R2 represent a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon chain containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms which is substituted by at least one -OH group and/or one ketone functional group containing, if appropriate, at least one ring <IMAGE> , it being possible for this ring to contain one or a number of unsaturations, - R3, R4 and R5, which are identical to or different from one another, are chosen from hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy radicals containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an -OH, -NH2 or -NO2 group or a halogen atom, and to their isomers and to the products resulting from dehydration. These bistramides are useful especially as medicaments with a cytostatic effect, in particular as antitumour or antiparasitic medicaments.
