Control valve for a fuel injection device

A control valve for a fuel injection device serves for controlling the start and end of fuel injection into the combustion chambers of a diesel engine. In this the end of injection is initiated by opening of the control valve, which results in a pressure drop in the high pressure line. The control valve 1 has a valve housing 7 with valve seat 10 and a valve body 3, capable of moving axially in the housing chamber 2 between a closed and an open position. Interacting valve and housing seal faces 5 and 6 are situated opposite one another on the closing head 9 of the valve body 3 and on the valve seat 10 and each respectively have at least one opening 13a, b; 14a, b, which open out in the housing chamber 2 on the low pressure side and high pressure side respectively and bear tightly on one another in the closed position. In an alternative embodiment the seal faces 5, 6 of the closing head 9 and the valve seat 10 respectively are of multiple splined or toothed design. The essential advantage is that the openings 15 or the multiple splined or tooth profile-shaped design of the seal faces 5, 6 results in an enlargement of the sealing line, which enables the valve lift to be reduced for the same opening cross-section of the valve, so that a reduced valve speed is possible for the same valve reaction time. Unwanted oscillations of the valve body 3 from the valve seat 10 can thereby be prevented. <IMAGE>
