In a transporting apparatus (1), a toothed chain (24) runs around in a constrained manner in a sliding body (19). A pinion (25) of a spindle (4, 5) projects, through a longitudinal slot (26) of the sliding body (19), into said toothed chain (24), this resulting in a rotary movement of the spindle (4, 5) when the spindle (4, 5) moves in a translatory manner and/or the toothed chain (24) is driven. A counter-pressure strip (27) on that side of the spindle (4, 5) located opposite the sliding body (19) guides the latter together with the sliding body. <IMAGE>
