Apparatus for treating flowing media with ultrasound

To inactivate microorganisms in flowing (fluid) media, stationary soundwaves are generated in the medium which destroy the microorganisms by high pressure differences. The stationary waves are formed by sound generators interacting with reflectors through which the medium flows, whose action as a reflector is ensured by the dimensions of their flow orifices being selected to be small in relation to the sound wavelength.
