Anti-theft device for motor vehicles, especially lorries, having sensor elements, which actuate a blocking device on the vehicle if an attempt is made to start it, the blocking device including a hydraulic cylinder which is connected to the brake line and has a piston which is held in its withdrawn initial position against the resistance of springs by means of locking elements which can be released via sensor elements and which piston presses, when released, hydraulic fluid under pressure into the braking line and in so doing locks the brakes, and a secured restoring device for pulling the piston back into the tensioned initial position.
