This invention relates to a method for sorting large objects out of mixtures of material, especially mixed waste by feeding mixtures to a grid which contains rods and preferably takes the form of a belt of rods which is suitable for conveying material and by ejecting the large objects remaining on the grid of rods at a prescribed point by modifying the positions of the rods. In addition, the invention relates to a device for implementing the method.
