The invention relates to a handbrake, especially for a motor vehicle, with a housing 1, with a first bearing point 2 for the articulated connection, with a support element 3, a second bearing point 4, arranged at an interval from the first bearing point 2, for the connection to a handbrake operating mechanism, a third bearing point 6 for a part of a ratchet mechanism and with a spring-loaded operating part, guided in the housing 1, which part is connected to the ratchet mechanism for fixing the handbrake in a locking position by way of a locking element and mating teeth. According to the invention the housing 1 is formed in one piece with the first, second and third bearing point 2, 4, 6 and the guide 11 for the operating part and is composed of a high stress-bearing plastic. <IMAGE>
