Method for controlling the drive for a work object (42) of a machine tool to be moved by the drive along a specific location coordinate ( phi ), in which the movement is variable in accordance with a periodic reference variable or in which a periodic disturbing force acts on the movement. The control difference (e( phi )) corresponding to the coordinate location of the work object (42) is determined and stored in each case after an equidistant change of the coordinate location.
