An emergency running ring (11) for a two-component vehicle wheel (1) has on its side areas (15) sealing surfaces (16) made of elastomer material so that the emergency running ring (11) inserted into the pneumatic tyre (7) seals off the interior (24), subject to air pressure, of the pneumatic tyre (7) from the rim base (13) of the vehicle wheel (1). Thus, the seal between the two halves of the wheel which is necessary in known emergency rings but is unfavourable from the point of view of assembly and is expensive can be dispensed with. <IMAGE>
