Desired value transmitter for controlling a brake system

A desired value transmitter with a lightweight travel simulator with progressive forcible travel characteristic curve is to be provided. The desired value transmitter (10) has a travel simulator (12) with a piston (14) in a cylinder (13). The piston (14) is on the one hand under the effect of a spring (19) and on the other hand is loaded by a prestressed gas cushion. In the position of rest of the piston (14), the spring (19) acts as a compression spring. When the desired value transmitter (10) is actuated, the spring (19) becomes effective as a tension spring during the course of the displacement of the piston (14) counter to the pressure force of the gas cushion. The resultant formed from the spring force and pressure force results in a marked progressivity of the characteristic curve of the travel simulator (12). Measurement converters (20, 21, 22, 23) detect a travel signal s and/or pressure signal p and convert the latter into an electrical signal U for driving a break system. The desired value transmitter (10) can be applied in motor vehicle brake systems which are activated by extraneous force. <IMAGE>
