An autoclave including a vessel (1) having a horizontal axis (2) and a door (4) at one end, containing a dye bath and housing a beam (6) supporting a roll of fabric to be dyed (5). Said beam (6) is rotatably mounted about said axis (2) and rotated by a rotary device (8), and the fabric roll (5) is partially immersed in the dye bath, of which the surface is at an intermediate level in the vessel (1). The rotary device (8) includes a gear wheel (14) arranged near the back (3) of the vessel (1), engaging a drive pinion (13) and secured to a drive flange (20) to which one end (28) of the beam (6) is clamped by means of a tapered joint. The gear wheel (14) is connected to a rotary sleeve (15) through which the dye bath from a circulator device (9) flows.
