The adjustable lamp mounting has two parts (2, 3) which can be displaced one relative to the other in a sliding motion during adjustment of the headlamp. One part (3) is fixed to the headlamp and the other (2) is fixed to the body work (1) of the vehicle by a screw (4). An elastic block (30) serves as a lock between the part fixed to the body work and a locking screw (4), the tightening of the screw causing elastic deformation of the elastic block. (30). The inner end of the elastic block has a series of teeth (36), or a number of grooves formed on the outer surface to grip the inside of the screw boss.
