A mounting bracket assembly (12) is disclosed for soft mounting a transmission shifter (16) and simultaneously hard mounting a parking actuator (14) to a vehicle floorboard (51). The bracket assembly comprises an elongated base plate (20) having mounting holes (40, 42, 44, 46, 48) for hard mounting the base plate (20) longitudinally of the vehicle to the floorboard (51). The base plate (20) has a pair of spaced rear upstanding flanges (24, 26) for mounting the parking brake actuator (14) with its operating lever (34) extending longitudinally of the vehicle. An elevated tower structure (60) mounts the transmission shifter (16) and includes depending legs (64, 66) which include four mounting pads (72, 74, 76, 78). Cooperating mounting pads (52, 54, 56, 58) are formed on the base plate (20) and interfit vertically with the leg mounting pads (72, 74, 76, 78) to locate the transmission shifter (16) on the base plate (20) with its operating lever (80) extending beside the parking brake actuator operating lever (34). Rubber pads (79) are interposed between the leg (72, 74, 76, 78) and base plate (52, 54, 56, 58) mounting pads and are bonded to these mounting pads to secure the tower structure (60) to the base plate (20) and simultaneously provide a soft mounting of the shifter (16) to the vehicle floorboard (51). |
