摘要 The method described below is used for locating leaks in odorising stations and in other systems where operations are carried out with odorising agents. At the heart of the method there is a portable device which essentially consists of - a compressed-air pump, - a pneumatic hose, - a compressed-air pistol and - a sensor for registering odorising materials. The principle of the measuring method is the dynamic comparison of the concentration variations of the odorising material at various measuring locations. For this purpose, the compressed-air pump is set up outside the region which is contaminated with odorising agent, for example outside the odorising station, in the region of fresh air. Using the compressed-air pistol, the air which is contaminated with odorising agent is blown away in the vicinity of the suspected object. After completing the blowing process, the gas measuring cell is activated. This sensor measures the increase of odorising agent concentration at the erstwhile blowing location. The response time, the slope and the maximum concentration of odorising agent are registered and stored. After reaching a stationary condition, the measurement is repeated at another measuring location. Finally, the individual kinetic variations are compared with one another and the measuring point having the most intensive concentration increase is determined. If required, the sequence of measurements in the vicinity of the measuring point found out during the first pass is repeated using a finer geometrical grid.
