A description is given of a pipeline system which is intended for transporting district heat and comprises a multiplicity of individual pipeline sections which are connected to one another. Each individual pipeline section comprises a corrugated metallic inner pipe, a corrugated metallic outer pipe, a heat-insulating layer which is located between the inner pipe and the outer pipe and consists of chemically produced polyurethane foam with special reaction data, and a plastic outer casing located on the outer pipe. The outer pipe is configured, in combination with the plastic outer casing, such that the soil and traffic loads which are to be expected when the pipeline is laid in the ground are absorbed by these two structural elements alone. The pipeline system is constructed such that, upon operational loading, the volume of the polyurethane foam does not fall below 80% of the volume of the annular chamber between the inner and outer pipe.
